A man is accused of stealing a Tigard police car after a fight Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Djordge Djuric, 24, got into a fight with another man at 16280 S.W. 113th Ave. at about 4:30 p.m., Tigard police spokesman Jim Wolf said. A responding police officer told Djuric to wait nearby as he checked on the injured man.

But when the officer checked on the man, Djuric got into the officer’s car and drove away, Wolf said.

Djuric drove the police car to the Masonic Lodge at 13680 S.W. Pacific Highway. He then smashed a window at the lodge and tried to break in, Wolf said.

Police officers spotted the car at the lodge and arrested Djuric.

He is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, fourth-degree assault, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
