10/09/17 Bridge City, TX – Call For Suspicious Male – While Attempting To Arrest Man – Broke Away And Stole Bridge City Police Car – Pursuit

A man thought it would be a good ideal to go on a unauthorized car ride this past weekend.

According to information obtained from Bridge City Police, Saturday morning around 8 a.m. Bridge City Police Officers responded to a report of a suspicious male in the 100 block of Texas Avenue.

Upon the first officers arrival, he made contact with the suspect, which the suspects behavior was suspicious and the officer requested another unit to step it up for assistance.

The officers attempted to arrest the suspect, and during the attempt the suspect was able to break away from the officers and take off in one of their patrol units.

The officers pursued the suspect down Texas Avenue to about the 1600 block, where the suspect was finally stopped.

Officers quickly apprehended the suspect and placed him in custody.

The suspect was assessed on scene by Acadian Ambulance personnel, and transported to the medical center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur for treatment.
After being medically cleared the suspect was transported to the Orange County Jail and charged with two counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.

Evidence gathered on the scene showed that the suspect was already in possession of a unauthorized use vehicle.

The identity of the suspect has not yet been released, no serious injuries were reported and the case remains under investigation by the Bridge City Police Department.
