Two men are in custody for burglary and attempted burglaries of three businesses in Kershaw County.

Authorities have charged Eric Richardson, 28, and Dashawn Robinson, 23, with second degree burglary and two counts of malicious injury to personal property.

Robinson is facing an additional charge of possession of a stolen vehicle and alteration of a VIN.

The first incident was reported at the Jefferson Food Market on Lockhart Road.

When the owner arrived on the morning of September 1, he noticed damage to the front door. Upon reviewing surveillance video, two men were seen using a crow bar to try to pry open the door.

The second incident took place at Doc’s Country Store in Camden. Deputies responded to the store at 2am, September 1 and the owner reported the two men stole cigarettes, cash and two pistols.

Robinson and Richardson are also alleged to have attempted break-in to Mercer’s Store on Red Hill Road.

Investigators were able to identify Robinson and Richardson as the suspects, courtesy of surveillance video showing the men driving a Ford Crown Victoria with a paper dealer tag.

Deputies located the vehicle and discovered items stolen from Doc’s Store in the trunk.

A further investigation revealed that the Crown Victoria that the two were driving was stolen from the Timmonsville Police Department in October of 2014.

Richardson was released after posting bail, and Robinson remains at the Kershaw County Detention Center, as this arrest violated terms of his probation for a previous conviction of kidnapping and armed robbery charges.
