Fabian crashed on State Route 40 near Hopwood Fairchance Road and continued fleeing, police said.

Another trooper spotted the stolen cruiser and joined the pursuit, following Fabian as he turned onto Chalk Hill Ohiopyle Road in Wharton Township. The trooper used a Pursuit Intervention Technique maneuver on the stolen car, causing it to flip onto the passenger side, court documents said.

Fabian resisted arrest, police said. A bystander helped troopers handcuff his second hand.

Police transported Fabian to Uniontown Hospital, where he told them he smoked marijuana that day, court paperwork said.

He is charged with theft, resisting arrest, accident involving attended property, and two counts each of DUI and fleeing officers.

Fabian was arraigned at 11 p.m. Thursday by on-call Magisterial District Judge Daniel C. Shimshock, who set bail at $250,000.

The suspect remains in Fayette County Prison in lieu of bond. He faces a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 6 before Shimshock.
