Police are searching for the suspect accused of trying to steal an Atlanta police cruiser early Monday morning.

The incident happened by the police precinct near Grant Park around 2 a.m.

Officers responded to a shots-fired call at the Forest Cove Apartments off McDonough Boulevard. A woman living at the complex said a bullet had gone through one of the walls in her home. An officer investigating the situation went back to his police cruiser and found that someone had damaged a window and door of the vehicle.

Officers believe the suspect was trying to steal the computer inside the cruiser. The suspect was unable to make off with the computer but did steal a bag belonging to the officer that contained personal items.
