A call for help, becomes a search for a fugitive.

“This should’ve been a call where these officers go out, to assist a motorist that’s run off the road,” Concordia Parish Sheriff Department’s PIO Vernon Stevens said. “That’s what they thought they were going for. In the end, they both wind up injured in a conflict with a multi-offender.”

That offender, Glenn Laborde Jr., injured two Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, before leading police on a three hour search, through three different parishes.

It all started on Logan Sewell Road, when deputies responded to a call around 6am, about a disabled vehicle stuck in a ditch. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the car was stolen. Then, Laborde Jr. resisted arrest, and got into a scuffle with the deputies.

That scuffle, the Sheriff’s office said, was Laborde Jr. stealing the deputies’ vehicle, backing up over one’s ankle, and clipping the other with the door. Then, he peeled off, and the search was on – through Vidalia, where he ditched the sheriff’s car, and stole another car.

Then, through Catahoula Parish, and eventually to the Lasalle Parish Grant Parish line, where he was spotted and arrested. The Sheriff’s Department in Concordia, called it a testament to good police work.

“You know, here’s a guy on the run in a stolen vehicle, and they caught him,” Stevens said. “Even though he changed vehicles twice, they still were able to catch him and apprehend him, take him into custody.”

Now Laborde Jr. sits in a parish jail, facing multiple charges. And if convicted, Stevens says it’ll be a long time before he gets out of jail again.
