The Clewiston Police Department is currently searching for two suspects involved in a home-invasion robbery that occurred on Monday, July 6. One of the suspects is also accused of stealing a Clewiston police vehicle and driving it through Harlem the same night.

According to the department, an officer was patrolling the area of East Osceola at around 11:30 p.m. when he saw two black males on bicycles begin to pedal faster when they spotted his marked patrol car.

As the officer attempted to stop the two men, a call came in from dispatch regarding a home-invasion robbery with firearms that had just occurred in the 300 block of East Osceola.

As the officer went to answer the radio call, the two men allegedly fled on their bicycles, with one ditching his bike a short distance later.

Now on foot, the officer reportedly ran after the suspect, but was unable to catch up to him before he circled around, jumped into the officer’s patrol car and drove off.

Another officer soon spotted the man in the patrol car and reportedly chased him through Harlem before the man jumped out and ran into an apartment building.

The patrol car was recovered by police with no damage, but both suspects reportedly got away.

Clewiston police believe the two suspects were involved in the home-invasion robbery on East. Osceola. Three adults and one child were reportedly inside the home at the time of the robbery. Clewiston police reported that one adult was struck by one of the assailants, but reported no injuries.
