About 3:30 p.m. Wednesday a Seminole police officer saw a suspect with outstanding warrants walking on the street.

The suspect, Jeremy Brewer, 28, began to run when the officer attempted to take him into custody. The foot pursuit lasted about three blocks until the officer was able to get close enough to taser Brewer. Brewer was then hand cuffed and put in the back of a police unit. Additional officers had arrived on the scene and were searching near by for evidence it was thought had been discarded by Brewer.

Brewer was able to get his hands from behind his back to his front, according to a Seminole police spokesperson, then make his way to the front of the vehicle, get around safety devices and drive off. A vehicle pursuit ensued that went into southeast Pottawatomie County.

Officers from the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office, the Seminole Nation Light Horse, and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the pursuit. A Light Horse vehicle was damaged before the pursuit ended. The pursuit at NS 3500 and EW 1180 roads when Brewer failed to negotiate the intersection.

Brewer crashed through a barbed wire fence and into a pasture where he was taken into custody by Seminole police. The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office is considering filing a charge of assault against Brewer because he allegedly drove at a deputy.
