Authorities watched as two suspects attempted to pull over a tractor-trailer in a stolen unmarked police sport utility vehicle on Thursday morning, according to the West Memphis Police Department.

Police said they watched the suspects activate the stolen SUV’s blue lights when they tried to stop the tractor-trailer on Martin Luther King Boulevard.

After the suspects noticed they were being watched by local police, they pulled into a nearby truck stop. When officers with the West Memphis Police Department went to speak with the suspects, they got out of the stolen vehicle and ran, authorities said.

Both were later arrested and admitted to stealing the vehicle from a repair shop in Horn Lake, Miss., according to police.

One suspect was identified as Marquian Lackland, 19, of Olive Branch, Miss., authorities said. The other suspect was an unnamed 15-year-old boy from Walls, Miss.

Both face charges of fleeing, reckless driving, theft by receiving and first-degree criminal impersonation. They were booked into the Crittenden County Detention Center and are awaiting possible extradition back to Mississippi.
