A string of crimes resulted in police vehicle in the ditch.

A 26-year-old man was taken to hospital in the early morning hours of June 2 and is suspected in a series of Huntsville crimes. Earlier that night police were advised that a pickup truck had been stolen from a Main Street West driveway. The culprit had broken into the victim’s house and taken the keys before driving off.

While looking for that truck police were made aware of a man breaking into a residence on Ferguson Rd. He was located soon thereafter and an arrest was attempted.

While attempting to arrest him, the man assaulted the officer and took off in the police vehicle. He travelled a short distance and put the police vehicle into the ditch causing minor damage.

The man-exhibited signs of impaired and was transported to a local area hospital where he remains under observation as of 4:30 p.m. on June 2.
