A teenager is in custody after stealing a Lamar County deputy’s vehicle and leading multiple law enforcement officers on a chase.

The deputy was at a home on Richburg road tending to a matter with a juvenile when his unit was stolen.

Other agencies became involved in the chase. A highway patrol vehicle wrecked during the pursuit. The trooper is not injured.

Mississippi Highway Patrol and Lamar County deputies stopped the vehicle just west of Maks West in the median.

The juvenile has been transported from the scene in custody.

No one was injured in the chase.
