Authorities say they shot teen who stole a vehicle from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Orlando Police say officers tried to stop the vehicle shortly after midnight Saturday but as they got out of their vehicle, the driver allegedly tried to strike one of the officers with the car.

Authorities said the officer fired at the driver, 17-year-old Trevon Lamons. He was later apprehended after he crashed into an abandoned home and taken to the hospital where he is in stable condition.

He is charged with aggravated assault on an officer, fleeing and eluding and grand theft of a motor vehicle.

Authorities are searching for two other suspects who were in the vehicle and fled.

The unidentified officer is on paid leave while the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigates the shooting.
