Yuma police car stolen...then wrecked!

Gonzalez when he appeared in Yuma County
Justice Court this afternoon.

But what Gonzalez was there for happened in real
life on the streets of Yuma early this morning.

Police say Gonzalez was a passenger in a hit and run
accident near Palo Verde and Catalina.

When police brought him back to the scene. They say
he climbed into the front seat of the police cruiser he
was sitting in and drove off.

He was caught just a few blocks away when be ran
the car into the median across from this parking lot
on Fourth Avenue.

Police say at the time Gonzalez drove away in the
cruiser. He was only considered a witness to the hit and
run...but now... he faces D-U-I., auto theft, felony
criminal damage, felony endangerment and reckless
driving charges.
