YOUNGSTOWN -- It’s not often that police in Austintown Township near Youngstown have to issue an alert to be on the lookout for one of their own cruisers.
Monday, township police were hunting for a new, partially marked police car that was stolen about 5 a.m. from the township’s maintenance garage. It was in the garage being prepared for service.
Police say they caught a woman driving the car. Forty-year-old Tracy Beebout of East Liverpool is facing felony charges of breaking and entering and grand theft. She was freed on bond Monday pending a court hearing.
Austintown police say that about three hours after the car was discovered missing, it was stopped near an intersection. Although the car was being prepared, it already had police markings and was equipped with a lightbar.
