WYOMING, PA - Two men were arrested Wednesday night after stealing an off-duty state trooper's vehicle and striking the trooper with the vehicle, state police said.

Raymond Anselmi of Exeter and Floyd Powell of Larksville were taken into custody after they stole Nick Gushka's vehicle from outside the Uni-Mart at Eighth Street and Wyoming Avenue, state police said.

According to state police:

Gushka, a corporal, was leaving the store at 11 p.m. as his car was being stolen. Gushka was struck by the vehicle as one of the men drove it away from the store.

An investigation quickly led police to find Anselmi and Powell on Sixth Street in Wyoming.

They were taken into custody and lodged at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility. The two are being held on probation violations.

Trooper Tom Kelly said theft- and assault-related charges will likely be filed against the men early next week.
