Winnipeg, Canada - Police Cruiser Stolen - Second Police Car Stolen With A months Time
As Winnipeg police explore the merits of installing anti-theft devices in
their vehicles, an unmarked cop car was swiped last weekend in a brazen theft in
River Heights.
It’s the second Winnipeg police cruiser to be stolen within a month’s time.
Cops believe the Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor was stolen Sept. 29 from
the parking lot of the integrated child exploitation unit’s Academy Road office.
The car, belonging to the unit, was recovered Monday morning in the 2100 block
of McPhillips Road, spokeswoman Const. Jacqueline Chaput said.
She said it appears nothing was taken from it. No arrests have been made.
On Aug. 28, someone stole an unmarked Crown Victoria that was parked outside
an officer’s River Heights home. The car was used by staff at the police
training academy in Westwood.
Cops recovered the car on Laura Street between Alexander and Logan avenues. No
one has been arrested.
