Winfeild, WV - DWI Suspect Indicated For Stealing Police Car - Police Chase - Crash - Assault On Police Officer
WINFIELD, W.Va. (WSAZ) --
A man accused of stealing a Charleston police
cruiser and taking it on a joy ride has been indicted by a grand jury.
John Osborne from Nitro says he was at a Charleston bar and was looking for a
way to get home when he stumbled on an unlocked police cruiser. The keys were
left on the seat.
Osborne took off and later started a police chase that ended when he crashed
in Nitro.
Osborne was indicted Thursday on possession of a stolen vehicle, fleeing in a
vehicle from a law-enforcement officer while driving under the influence of
alcohol, destruction of property, and assault of a police officer.
A date for his arraignment has not been set.
