WHITBY, Ont. (CP) — A Hamilton man faces numerous charges after a police cruiser was stolen during a wild car chase east of Toronto that ended with an arrest on the grounds of a NUCLEAR POWER PLANT.

Provincial police began chasing a suspected stolen vehicle early Tuesday on Highway 401 near Oshawa.

The driver of the vehicle eventually lost control and crashed.

Police say three men fled from the vehicle and one of them stole the police cruiser as officers tried to arrest them.

The driver made two U-turns on the highway and drove directly at oncoming traffic.

He then drove through the gates of the Darlington nuclear power station before other police cruisers pinned the vehicle and restrained a man by using tasers.

Twenty-five-year-old James Wilson faces 21 charges, including two counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle, theft over $5,000 and assault.

Police are still looking for the other two male suspects.

Investigators say five cruisers were damaged in the chase.
