Webster City, IA - Man Arrested for Stealing a Hamilton Co. Sheriff's Vehicle from His Home - Totals It
WEBSTER CITY — A man who stole a vehicle belonging to the Hamilton County
sheriff was arrested Thursday, the Webster City Police Department has reported.
John Oupachack, 22, of Webster City, was apprehended after the Police Department
received a tip on the identity of the suspect.
“We had a confidential informant ... who said they knew who it might be,” said
Webster City Police Chief Mike McConnell.
The vehicle was stolen from the residence of Sheriff Dennis Hagenson Sunday
and was found earlier this week after the Police Department received a call
about a vehicle accident.
“We got a report of a car accident and the driver had fled,” McConnell said.
The car was totaled after Oupachack allegedly backed into another
vehicle and proceeded to leave the scene on foot. No injuries were reported
in the accident.
Oupachack faces burglary in the third degree, two counts of criminal mischief in
the second degree and operating without owner’s consent. He was taken to the
Hamilton County Jail where he is awaiting arraignment.
