A vehicle belonging to an area law enforcement officer was recovered by Springtown police after it was reportedly stolen Sunday night or early Monday.

Shortly after 5 a.m. Monday, the Parker County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the 500 block of Virginia Place and a law enforcement officer reported his white 2006 Pontiac Torrent stolen sometime between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. by unknown suspects, according to information from the sheriff’s office.

A .40-caliber pistol and an ID card and key card were also reportedly stolen, according to the sheriff’s office.

Though the sheriff’s office declined to name the complainant, the address is listed to a 10-year veteran of the Weatherford Police Department and former peace officer with the Parker County Sheriff’s Office.

Springtown Police Lt. Curtis Stone said an officer saw the vehicle pull out of the parking lot of a restaurant in the 400 block of U.S. Highway 199 West around 2 a.m. Monday, when the restaurant was closed, and ran the license plate.

The SUV then pulled over into a field off of South Ash Street and shut the lights off, according to Stone.

The officer identified two young adult white males in the vehicle and found the driver did not have his license with him and had no insurance, Stone said.

The vehicle was towed and the driver was cited for no insurance and driving without a license, according to Stone.

The firearm was also recovered, according to the sheriff’s office.

No arrests had been made as of late Monday.
