Washington, DC - Domestic Violence Handcuffed Prisoner Steals Metro Police Cruiser - Chase - Crashes Into Building

 

 

A man in police custody tried to steal a D.C. police cruiser Saturday night.

Authorities originally responded to a domestic violence call near 57th Street and East Capitol Street in Northeast.

Police arrested the suspect and placed the man in the backseat of the cruiser.

While officers searched for a gun reportedly in the area along 49th Street and A Street NE, the suspect climbed through the barrier window and began to drive off in the cruiser.

The suspect managed to driver around the block before crashing the cruiser into a vacant apartment building near 53rd Street and Central Avenue, NE.

Police say the suspect fled the vehicle and was taken back into custody after being discovered a block away hiding in the rear of a home. ABC 7 News - Suspect in Custody Tries to Steal Police Cruiser
