facility
Wednesday, September 05, 2007
TRENTON -- An unmarked Ford Crown Victoria police car that vanished from a
state motor pool parking lot was reported stolen to city police yesterday,
officials said.
The vehicle, assigned to the State Parole Board, had been towed to the motor
pool's facility on South Broad Street for service when it was apparently stolen,
officials said.
Parole board spokesman Neal Buccino said no weapons were in the vehicle and its
police radio was deactivated by the parole board once it was reported stolen.
The car is equipped with flashing emergency lights and sirens,
Buccino said.
The car is a hunter green 2000 Crown Victoria model police car.
The state's motor pool, which falls under the Treasury Department, received the
car Aug. 17 from the parole board for standard repairs and the motor pool
notified parole officials Aug. 30 that the car was ready, Treasury spokesman
Mark Perkiss said.
On Friday, a parole official went to the South Broad Street lot and could not
find the vehicle. The parole official went back to the lot yesterday and still
could not find the vehicle and reported it stolen at about 12:30 p.m., Perkiss
said.
Perkiss said motor pool documentation about the car has been forwarded to
Trenton police for their investigation.
