Police K-9 unit patrol car stolen, recovered -- The Topeka Police 
Department is investigating the theft of a K-9 unit patrol car 
Wednesday morning, police said.

About 1:35 a.m., police discovered that the vehicle, with its 
dog inside, had been stolen from in front of the Law Enforcement 
Center, 320 S. Kansas Ave.

The car's engine had been left running at the time it was stolen, 
police said.

Police recovered the car about 2 a.m. in the 1600 block of S.W. Lane.

The dog wasn't injured, police said, although it appeared the 
thief used pepper spray to stun it.
