Toledo police have begun an internal investigation after a marked police cruiser parked outside El Camino Real restaurant, 2500 West Sylvania Ave., was stolen.

Kent Crozier, 22, of Curtice, Ohio, is accused of driving off in it Tuesday evening.

He was arraigned Wednesday in Toledo Municipal Court for grand theft of a motor vehicle and assaulting an officer, and was held in the Lucas County jail on $60,000 bond.

Police said officers responded to a disturbance and were investigating when Mr. Crozier allegedly stole the car. It was later located in the 2200 block of Fairfax Avenue. Mr. Crozier, who was arrested there, head-butted an officer while being taken into custody, police said.

Toledo Police Chief Mike Navarre said the department’s policy is that keys should not be left in unoccupied police vehicles.
