Shot Fired and Toledo Police Cruiser Stolen

06/11/05

Toledo Police have arrested the man they say stole an unmarked police car.

The search is over for fugitive Brian E. Lipp. He's the 42-year-old who stole an unmarked police car and took off while in handcuffs.

Police arrested Lipp at a 7-11 convenient store on Bancroft St. just after 8:00 Friday night.

Police found the car earlier in the afternoon behind Jesu School in west Toledo. The search was concentrated around the church area.

Officers combed the area with air one, ground cruisers and search dogs.

He was handcuffed while driving the stolen car and police have recovered the cuffs at the school. The driver's side window of the stolen car was shot out, but no word on if the suspect has been injured.

We have learned that he tried to hit an officer while he was taking off in the unmarked cop car. He was also involved in a fender bender at Bancroft and Detroit earlier this afternoon.
