Arrest Suspect Escapes In Stolen Police Car, Crashes into State Police Cruiser

A man being transported by a constable had a few minutes of notoriety
Tuesday afternoon. Amos Gradler had been taken to Summit Township
Magistrate James Dwyer`s office on some accumulated traffic
citatations.
While in custody, Gradler asked to use the restroom, then made a break
for the parking lot. Gradler jumped into Constable Mike Slayton`s dark
blue police car and drove away.
State police were called in to pursue Gradler, who was spotted later near
Waterford.
Gradler was taken back into custody following a collision with a
state police cruiser, and transported to Hamot for treatment of minor
injuries.
Gradler will be taken to Erie County Prison and detained on parole
violations.
