St. Cloud man lead police on a high speed chase with stolen squad car
A St. Cloud man lead police on a high speed chase
yesterday, in one of their own squad cars. St. Joseph
Police Officer Dave Windells stopped a car that was
speeding about a mile north of St. Joseph.
The 46 year old driver said he had a gun. Joseph backed
off, took cover behind his car and called for back up.
When Officer Paul Soliley arrived, the officers ordered
the man out of the car. The driver came out hiding his
hands behind his back.
The driver moved forward. The officers moved back. The driver
jumped into Windells' car and drove off.
The chase went up the road about two miles toward Sartell. But
the suspect drove off the winding road. He surrendered.
Police Chief Gary Will commended his officers for not shooting
an aggressive man they thought was armed.
