Man faces two felony charges after being accused of stealing car belonging to police officer in Key West Sunday, August 23, 2009 / Staff Report

 

— A 24-year old man is in St. Lucie County Jail in lieu of $155,000 bail after being accused of stealing a car belonging to a Key West police officer Saturday, according to an arrest affidavit.

Berisford England, address unknown, is facing one felony charge of grand theft auto, a felony charge of corruption by threat and a misdemeanor charge of driving without a valid drivers license, the report said.

The affidavit states England was northbound on Interstate 95 in Port St. Lucie when radar monitored by a Florida Highway Patrol trooper detected him speeding. When the trooper ran the tag of the pickup truck, dispatch said the vehicle was stolen and registered to a Key West police officer.

When troopers searched the truck, several overnight bags were found. One contained an array of sex toys and pornography. A firearm belonging to the vehicle’s owner, his wallet, identification card and a badge was found in the center console of the truck.
