areas around Spokane

Some criminals have pretty big egos and Rodney Duprie thought he'd boost his a bit by allegedly stealing a car out of the State Patrol parking lot. Detectives say he fortunately removed the license plates and was quickly spotted by police in Spokane Valley.
Bait cars are usually parked in high crime areas where thieves shop around for the best vehicles to swipe, however detectives were not working the night the car was stolen out of the State Patrol parking lot.
Rodney Duprie has allegedly told investigators he knew the Honda was outfitted with a GPS tracking system but took it any way in the hopes of disrespecting the auto theft detectives. Detective say by that time Duprie had already removed the $6,000 tracking system and had thrown it in the Spokane River.
With the car back in law enforcement hands and Duprie in custody, detectives plan to put their bait car back on the streets when the new GPS equipment arrives. Back |
