A woman is in the hospital this morning after deputies say she stole and wrecked a deputy patrol car.

Laurens County deputies say they first received a call from the Princeton Motel to help Greenville County deputies with what they heard was a shooting, but the call was cancelled. 

Deputies then spotted a woman running down Highway 25. 

The woman told the deputy she had been shot.  When the officer got out of his car he says she jumped into the driver’s seat and took off. The vehicle crashed about a mile down the road near Harvest Baptist Church. 

Ware Shoals police say they caught up with her about a mile from where she wrecked the patrol car.
Deputies tell us she is currently at Greenville Hospital System.
