A 16-year-old Sheridan youth was arrested for joy riding after he allegedly
took a Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigations vehicle Saturday afternoon.
Sheridan County Sheriff's Lt. Andrew Conrad said an off-duty DCI agent went
to a local gym and shortly after 1 p.m. returned to the parking lot to discover
his GMC SUV missing.
Officers found the SUV about an hour later parked a block from the gym. They
also found the boy in the area and, after questioning, he confessed to entering
the gym locker room, taking the ignition key out of a lock and taking the
vehicle before ditching it, Conrad said.
"Luckily, nothing was damaged and nothing was stolen out of it," he said.
Joy riding is a misdemeanor in Wyoming, Conrad said.
