SEATAC - King County Sheriff's deputies are looking for a burglary suspect
who stole a police car, then fled the scene.
Sheriff spokesman John Urquhart says a SeaTac officer arrived at smoke shop in
the 20000 block of Pacific Highway South around 5:30 a.m. Thursday after a
report of a burglary in progress.
The officer arrested the suspect and put him in the back seat of his car. The
officer then went to process the crime scene.
In the meantime, the suspect managed to get through the Plexiglas division
between the front and back seat of the patrol car, slid into the driver's seat,
and then took off.
After a brief search, an officer located the suspect ditching the police car
at the corner of Kent-Des Moines Road and Military Road. But the chasing
officer lost the suspect between buildings.
Deputies say they are looking for 52-year-old Marc Wardrip, who is 5 feet 8
inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds. He was red, graying hair and a beard. He
was last seen wearing brown Carhart overalls, a matching Carhart Jacket, and
black steel-toe boots.
If you see Wardrip, call 911.
The city of SeaTac contracts with the King County Sheriff's office to provide
