Woman tries to steal patrol car after chase

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A woman faces several charges after leading CHP
officers on a chase around San Francisco. Shortly after getting caught, police
say she tried to escape by jumping into a CHP patrol car.
Officials say an officer gave the woman a dry stun with a Taser gun. A dry
stun does not fire darts. It all happened after she was able to slip a hand out
of a cuff and tried to steal a patrol car while she was being questioned by
officers.
"To get her compliance, what we did was apply the Taser to her lower back. It
does deliver an electrical charge to that small section to her back. For pain
compliance, she then gave up her arms because it does hurt extremely bad," said
CHP Sgt. Ken Roberts.
The chase began on northbound 101 near Candlestick Park when a CHP officer
noticed she was driving erratically. She did not pullover and the chase began.
Officers say the vehicle was stolen. The suspect faces several charges including
resisting arrest, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possible DUI.
