(KSL News) -- It seems even police officers are not immune to having their cars stolen.
Sometime last night, a thief took off in a Salt Lake patrol car.
On Dec. 16, a Salt Lake City patrol car left running in the
driveway of the officer's Sandy home was taken. The officer
locked the car doors when he had to go inside to grab something, but
the suspect broke the driver's side window, opened the door and
took off.
The car was recovered later that morning. Originally police
reported that nothing was taken from the vehicle. But police
detective Robin Snyder said Friday it wasn't until a through
inspection of the car was completed that investigators discovered
several items were missing.
According to a report from Sandy police, ammunition, a bulletproof vest, a digital camera, a laser radar gun, tools, jackets, a shoulder microphone, gloves and a GPS unit were all taken from the car.
