What started as a Warren County domestic violence police run late Saturday ended four hours later after a man is accused of firing as many as 100 shots at police, stealing a cruiser and going on a high-speed chase that ended when police shot the man.

Warren County Sheriff’s deputies responded at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday to a Salem Township home to answer a complaint against Lance Williams at 4163 Fosters-Maineville Road.

As Williams, 37, was being taken to a police car, police say Williams’ twin brother, Lindsay Williams, shot at Deputy John Smith.

As police scattered, Lindsay Williams began what turned out to be a four-hour stand-off in which Lindsay Williams is accused of firing 75-100 shots at police when they were taking cover behind cruisers and in ditches.

The shots came from handguns, a shot gun and semi-automatic rifle and were fired out of various windows in the house, hitting at least six police vehicles.

After Warren County’s Tactical Team and negotiators were unable to convince Lindsay Williams to give up, he slipped out of the house at about 3:20 a.m. and into the cruiser that was brought to the scene by the deputy who arrested Lance Williams.

Lindsay Williams was next seen in Clermont County while driving the Warren County Sheriff’s cruiser. Beginning on I-275 in Clermont County’s Miami Township, police chased Lindsay Williams.

At one point, Lindsay Williams turned around and headed north.
When the stolen cruiser reached Ward’s Corner Road, it stopped, forcing officers to block traffic behind it.

The stolen cruiser then turned west along I-275 into Hamilton County and then south on to I-75 where it stopped near the Neumann Way exit.

Lindsay Williams refused to surrender or give up his gun, so a Blue Ash police officer shot Williams in the leg.

A gun was found near Williams when he was arrested by the cruiser.

Williams was taken to University Hospital where he was being treated. He faces five counts of attempted murder and has other charges pending.

Twin Lance Williams is charged with obstruction of official business, drug charges and resisting arrest.

The only injury to police was flying debris that injured a Hamilton Township officer who was treated at the scene.

Warren County Sheriff Tom Ariss said updated information would be provided later today.
