Royal Oak Township, MI - 18 Yr. Old STEALS MICHIGAN STATE PATROL CAR - Crashes Into Several Cars - Fled On Foot
ROYAL OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Michigan State Police said a patrol car was
stolen on Monday when its occupant somehow climbed from the backseat into the
front and took off.
Police said an 18-year-old was stopped by a state trooper for driving on a
suspended license.
When the driver gave a false name he was taken into custody, handcuffed and put
into the backseat of the patrol car.
Police said an associate of the suspect distracted the officer while he
maneuvered his way into the front and began to drive off.
Police said the suspect managed to drive a distance, crashing into several
cars along the way.
Police said the suspect crashed at 8 Mile Road and Wyoming Street in Royal
Oak Township.
No injuries were reported as a result of the collisions.
Police said the suspect then fled on foot and tried to enter several houses
before barricading himself inside one house.
Police said there were a mother and child inside that house.
Police apprehended the suspect when he tried to leave that house.
A relative of the 18-year-old man told Local 4 that the man was already on
probation for domestic violence and was afraid of getting in more trouble
