Riverside, CA - Police Officer Pushed by Suspect. Patrol Car Stolen
(CBS) RIVERSIDE, Calif. Riverside police Tuesday were looking for a man
who stole a patrol car when officers approached him for suspicious behavior in a
motel parking lot.
Two police officers were checking the parking lot of the Sands Motel at 10625
Magnolia Ave. at 11:15 p.m. Monday when they saw a man inside a car with no
license plates, police spokesman Steve Frasher said.
When the officers approached him, the man got out his cell phone and told them
he was calling his lawyer.
While one officer was checking the car's vehicle identification number, the
man pushed the second officer aside and drove off in the their patrol car,
Frasher said.
The patrol car was found later about a half-mile away at the American Inn
Motel at 11057 Magnolia Ave, but the man was gone, Frasher said.
The suspect was described as a black man with a short Afro, a thin mustache and
a goatee.
He was believed to be about 28 years old and was 6 feet tall.
