Red Eagle, TN - Inmate Steals State Capital Police Car - 60 Mile Pursuit - Police Car In Ditch

Inmate captured after stealing police car and crossing into Jackson County

Authorities were in pursuit of 34-year-old Mason Lewis Gibson, Jr. for more than 60 miles before they captured him Tuesday night.

Gibson, an inmate, had stolen an unmarked state capitol police car from a job site in Red Eagle, which is located in Tennessee.

The high speed chase started in Chattanooga, went through Bridgeport, onto Highway 72, and ended near Scottsboro High School.

Officers say the car ended up in a ditch on Crawford Road.

Then Gibson ran several hundred yards. Scottsboro police found him hiding in a ditch.

Gibson is being held in the Jackson County Jail.

No bond has been set.
