Unmarked Fairfax squad car stolen near Manassas, VA
Oct. 8, 2002 - Manassas Journal Messenger
Prince William police are asking the public to help them find a
stolen, unmarked cruiser that belongs to the Fairfax County Police
Department, said Detective Dennis Mangan, Prince William police
spokesman.
The medium-blue 1997 Ford Taurus sedan with Virginia license
plates ZGC-8702 was stolen Tuesday in the Manassas area, Mangan
said.
When it was stolen, the cruiser had a blue, bubble light in the
passenger compartment. A ballistic vest and a portable police
radio were elsewhere in the vehicle, Mangan said.
The Prince William Police Department does not have any Ford
Taurus cars in its fleet and police advise citizens to be
cautious if they are approached by the vehicle, Mangan said.
"If an unmarked vehicle of this description tries to stop you,"
Mangan said in a press release, you may continue to drive at
or just below the speed limit to a well-populated area before
stopping, or you may drive to a fire or police station before
stopping. If you see this vehicle, do not attempt to stop it
yourself," Mangan said.
Mangan asks that should anyone see the vehicle they should call
the police department.
