Portland, TN - Couple Steals Patrol Car - Officer Shoots at Vehicle - Chase - Crash
PORTLAND, Tenn. -- Two people stole a
police car and led officers on a chase before crashing in Sumner County, police
said.

Brandon Temple and Rebecca Enoch were captured Wednesday afternoon in a
cornfield in Portland, police said.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Cross Plains city manager said a Cross
Plains police officer were transporting Temple and Enoch in connection with
outstanding felony warrants on burglary, theft and vandalism charges.
Officials were waiting for a Robertson County sheriff’s deputy to arrive to
transport them to jail when police said Temple climbed into the front seat of
the officer’s patrol car and fled the scene.
Police said the Cross Plains police officer fired two shots at the car after
he realized the couple had taken it.
The couple drove the car until they crashed in a Portland cornfield. The
couple got out and tried to escape but were captured and taken into custody,
according to officials.
The officer whose patrol car the duo stole has been in law enforcement
for 28 years including almost eight years with the Cross Plains Police
Department.
