Bail was set at $1 million following the arrest of Salvador Valdovinos on Friday, Porterville police reported.
Valdovinos, 20, of Porterville, allegedly fought with police officers at an apartment complex in the 400 block of E Street, stole a patrol unit and led officers on a chase where speeds hit 100 mph and he attempted to ram pursuing vehicles.
He stopped in Terra Bella, fled on foot and was evenutually apprehended.
Prior to the chase, Valdovinos allegedly attempted to steal two cars that were occupied at the time, assaulted a woman in the car and took something from her.
Valdovinos was injured but did not require medical attention. One of the people whom Valdovinos allegedly assaulted was treated at Sierra View District Hospital for a minor injury.
Valdovinos was booked into the custody of the Tulare County Sheriff's Office.
