Polk County, FL - Man is arrested for
Stealing Sheriff's Patrol Car to visit Ex-wife
A man stole a Polk County sheriff's patrol car
Tuesday night and drove it to his ex-wife's home, officials said.
About 6 p.m. the parents of Michael Pierson, 29, called deputies to report their
son was acting erratically, Rodgers said.
Deputy James Ostojic found Pierson walking near Combee Road. As he talked with
Pierson, the deputy left the engine running. When Pierson's parents
arrived, Ostojic walked across the street to talk with them and Pierson drove
off in the car shortly before 7 p.m., Rodgers said.
Deputies found the patrol car at Pierson's ex-wife's home, Rodgers said.
Pierson was arrested as he walked on a nearby road. He was charged with auto
theft.
