State police from Dunmore have been asked to help in the search for two
suspects who assaulted a state trooper in the Poconos. The trooper was
beaten and had her gun and patrol car stolen, all while she says she was
trying to help a driver. Investigators tell News 22 two people assaulted
Trooper Margaret Shirley after she pulled over to help the driver of a
broken down motorcycle. Police say the two beat her, stole her gun and took
off in her state police cruiser. It all happened near the Lake Harmony exit
off I-80. Crews later found the cruiser at the intersection of Interstates
