POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) - A woman who stole a Chubbuck police sport utility
vehicle and led officers on a high-speed chase has been sentenced to five years
in prison.
But Sixth District Judge David Nye said that 18-year-old Maria Plentywounds
would first serve 180 days at the North Idaho Correctional Institution in
Cottonwood. If Plentywounds performs well in treatment programs while at the
prison, Nye may modify her sentence.
Prosecutors said Plentywounds was handcuffed and seat belted in the back of a
police car when she managed to free herself, stealing the police vehicle and
leading police on a chase reaching 120 miles per hour through Fort Hall.
