Parkersburg, WV - Police from three area departments chased and
apprehended a Parkersburg man Thursday after he allegedly
stole an Athens, Ohio, city vehicle that was parked at
Miller Communications on Jewell Road.
Michael Scott Dotson, 34, of Market Street reportedly stole
a white 2003 Chevy Impala between 6 - 7 p.m. Wednesday from
the business, said Lt. Terry Miller of the Wood County
Sheriff's Department.
The vehicle, valued at $25,0000, was in Miller Communication's
garage being converted for use as a police cruiser, he said.
"He (Dotson) saw the vehicle with the keys still in it and
took it," Miller said.
The sheriff's department was notified of the theft. However,
the vehicle was not located until it was pursued Thursday
morning, when officers in Mason County ran the vehicle's
plates after it was clocked for speeding, reports show.
