Wisconsin man injures children during pursuit and crash, arrested stealing
police car.
PALATINE -- Authorities added charges against a Wisconsin man accused last
week of reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident in which a
Palatine woman and two 12-year-old girls were injured, police said.
Ronald M. Wheatley, 29, of Williams Bay was charged Saturday with possession of
a stolen motor vehicle, criminal trespass to a vehicle, criminal trespass to a
residence and resisting arrest, Palatine police Sgt. Steve Bratcher said.
Police said Wheatley stole a 2005 Pontiac GTO from an Elgin dealership
Thursday afternoon, crashed it into another car and ran away. Wheatley entered a
house as he ran through a nearby neighborhood, police said. He also tried to
drive off in a Palatine squad car while running from police, Bratcher said.
