A man faces a long list of charges after he led police on an hour-long chase, attacked officers with a crowbar and attempted to steal a patrol vehicle on the Kitigan Zibi reserve Sunday morning.
Sûreté du Québec spokesman Daniel Thibaudeau said police spotted weapons in the back seat of the man’s vehicle and attempted to pull it over. The man sped away, sparking a chase that lasted more than an hour as police lost and regained sight of the vehicle several times.
Police apprehended the man after he lost control of his vehicle on the reserve at about 10:40 a.m. Thibaudeau said the man attacked officers with a crowbar and tried to steal the police vehicle while officers arrested him.
The man was eventually subdued with pepper spray and taken into custody.
Jason Chabot, 36, appeared in court Monday morning to face several charges, including armed assault, attempting to steal a vehicle and flight.
