California Orange County Police Car Stolen- Still Missing      Missing O.C. Car

 

(CBS) ORANGE, Calif. Police in Orange County are still looking for the unmarked sheriff’s vehicle that went missing from a parking lot at the Theo Lacey Jail .  The 2001 white Ford Crown Victoria, however, was not reported stolen until Thursday.

According to Orange County Sheriff Lt. Hand Strand, the vehicle is shared among several deputes and jail employees. The department needed to confirm that it had not been taken in for maintenance by any of its drivers before the car could be reported as stolen.

"Obviously we're concerned because we've got a stolen police vehicle out there that can be used for a lot of illegal acts," said sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino.

Fortunately there were no firearms or weapons in the vehicle at the time of its disappearance.

The car is equipped with spotlights on the driver and passenger doors and red and blue lights on the passenger side visor. The vehicle's license plate is E10906061 and the number 1378 is decaled on the front right and rear left windows.
