OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A 16-year-old boy is suffering from serious injuries
after stealing a police squad car, then crashing the cruiser a short time later.
Police say the incident began when the teen was arrested by Omaha police
Saturday night on an Iowa warrant.
Investigators say the boy had been handcuffed and placed in the back of a
cruiser. He somehow managed to get his cuffed hands in from of him, crawl
into the front seat and take off in the cruiser.
He crashed the squad car into a tree after a chase, and had to be cut out of
the car by rescue workers.
He was taken to Creighton University Medical Center with serious, but
non-life-threatening injuries.
