An officer saw Polk trying to break into the North Little Rock Police transport van behind the department at 200 W. Pershing, a news release said.
Polk broke free when the officer attempted to arrest him, threatening to kill the officer and fleeing in the patrol car , the release said.
An officer in an unmarked car, along with other officers, chased Polk on snowy roads.
Polk asked the other officers if they were the "real police," officials said.
No one was injured, nor police vehicles damaged.
Polk faces charges of breaking or entering, resisting arrest, felony theft of property, terroristic threatening and fleeing.
He is being held at the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility with no bond.
